The County’s Open Data Portal is a website where data files are posted and freely available for anyone to use. Launched in February 2016, the Portal today has 184 unique datasets from nearly every County department, broken down into easy-to-search categories such as Public Safety, Health and Human Services, Community and Recreation, and Transportation, among others. The portal is a key pillar of the County’s Open Government Program, which strives to improve access to data for greater transparency and understanding of government decision and policy making and program development.
Using the portal is easy. Simply browse the site and click on a category to view the datasets in that particular subject area. You can also search the collection via the Data Catalog at the top of the home page and search or sort to discover the data you want. Don’t see what you’re looking for? You can submit a Dataset Request and we’ll do some digging to find out if it exists and whether it can be shared as open data. If we can share it, we’ll let you know how soon it can be published. Between our ongoing effort to proactively post data and process new dataset requests, we expect the Portal should reach 200+ datasets this year, so check back often for more!
